Fruit-free, milk free post WOD nutrition

1/2 cup cooked squash/sweet potato
1/2 c coconut milk
6-8 cubes of ice
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 scoops vanilla protein (we use Jarrow)
3 egg whites (we use the powdered egg whites from Honeyville)

Blend and drink.

Rory asked me for a fruit-free protein drink and I came up with this. He, of course, thought it should have nut butter so he added a big heaping scoop of cashew butter. He also thinks nut butter goes on everything... he even eats it on pears. Crazy man.

On a different note, Rory has left again for more Army stuff. When he returns in 2 1/2 weeks he wants to go dairy free for a month. I'm looking forward to getting creative in the kitchen when he returns!

  1. So I tried the cabbage, tomato, and meatball crockpot dish you posted last week. Overall, it tasted pretty good, but there are a few things I might do differently next time. I will probably leave the vinegar out since the cabbage causes it to be somewhat acidic. On that note, the recipe recommends placing a carrot in the pot as it absorbs some of the acidity and discard before eating. I would put two in next time, 1 on the bottom, and one of the top. I also did not add any salt, as Joey told me during our training session yesterday that I need to start cutting back on salt to go truly paleo. But, I do think it needed a little salt... :) Lastly, I used 99% lean ground turkey and it was a tad dense and not as moist as I would have liked. I think in the crock pot a little more fat would have served the meat well. Overall though, it was a really yummy dish and with a few slight modifications I will definitely make it again! Thanks April! Looking forward to your next crockpot recipe!

  2. By the way, this was the first time I ever used my crockpot and can not believe I waited this long! What a healthy and easy way to cook!
